President Kittithara Ruamtham said the Association of Used Car was founded to develop the capacity and raise the standard of used car dealing profession. The organisation has been extending its membership base to promote confidence in the segment and earn an international acceptance.

She said the collaboration with iCar Asia will help dealers market their vehicles to more consumers with less operating cost. At the same time, the online vehicle trade is advantageous to buyers because it is easily accessed, a diverse range of quality used cars is on offer to meet different requirements, pricing is reasonable, and the transactions can be done online anywhere.

The agreement between the two organisations allows the Association of Used Car’s members to upload information and publicise their offers on www.ThaiCar.com free of charge.

Chatchai Wanitthananant, the association’s vice president, cited that the used cars business in Thailand was now operated by about 5,000 dealers, worth over 600 billion baht. According to the statistics of the Hire-Purchase Association, the Kingdom had the total volume of hire-purchase transactions for cars of about 200 billion baht in 2013, reflecting a growing demand among consumers. In order to increase the competitiveness, the used car dealers should take advantage of online marketing opportunities to drive its brand engagement and generate meaningful leads as it proved itself as an effective tool to reach more consumers and increase sales.

Natthanathorn Ford, the general manager of iCar Asia (Thailand), said that the company was very pleased to help enhance the Association of Used Car’s competitiveness to be more internationally recognised by providing support through such approaches as the Association’s website development, launching a forum for discussion for the dealer networks and publicising the Association’s news and activities via www.autospinn.com, which was the website under iCar Asia’s operation, and www.ThaiCar.com as well as newsletters to reach more than 2,300 used car dealers.

“We are confident that the cooperation between the Association of Used Car and iCar Asia is a big step forward to push our standard of used car dealing profession into the next level, setting new criteria for the used-vehicle industry to achieve maximum benefits for consumers,” Kittithara concluded.
