iCar Asia First Digital Automotive Marketplace to Launch Chat Functionality in Southeast Asia

Hamish Mobile Chat

KUALA LUMPUR, 6 December 2016 – iCar Asia Limited (ASX:ICQ), owner of ASEAN’s number 1 network of automotive portals, celebrates the success of its new communication platform in Indonesia for its Mobil123.com business. In just a week since launch, the platform has seen strong adoption rates with buyers and sellers, communicating directly with each other using the power of chat technology. Along with the release is the launch of a new Dealer App, built uniquely for car dealers, enabling them to manage their business from their mobile device.

With this product launch, the desktop sites, mobile sites, as well as Dealer and Consumer Apps have chat built into the core capability of each platform. This brings the chat user experience, currently the most dominant communication channel in Southeast Asia, into the heart of the iCar Asia business. Effective communication allows more car buyers and sellers to easily connect, facilitating a successful trade.

iCar Asia developed its Dealer App dedicated to the needs of car dealers, separating it from the consumer focused experience. Chat is the key feature for the App, and also enables the dealers to effectively manage multiple leads, and keep track of their customers and conversations in the one place. This interface also gives the dealer the ability to share photos and their location as they chat to their customers. In addition to the chat capability, further functionality has been integrated into the App to allow the Dealer to more easily manage their account, as well as create and feature car listings whilst on the go.

iCar Asia CEO Hamish Stone commented: “Over 135 million people* connect with one another using chat applications across Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, with 79 million in Indonesia alone. Integrating chat capability into the interaction between the buyer and seller to facilitate a successful trade will further unlock the potential of our digital platforms. Being the first digital automotive marketplace to deliver this in the ASEAN region further strengthens our market leadership position and the value that we deliver to our buyers and sellers.”

Within the first week of launch, the platform has successful connected thousands of buyers to dealers via chat. With over 2.1 million monthly active users on Mobil123.com, it is expected that these numbers will grow exponentially in the coming weeks. iCar Asia expects to deploy its chat functionality and Dealer Apps in Malaysia and Thailand over the next 2 months.

Mr. Stone added: “As part of developing the App, we have improved the listing process by allowing the dealer to create an advertisement within minutes – with or without an internet connection. This improved user experience will further reinforce our business partnership with our Dealers, delivering them even more value through our platforms.”
