Georg Chmiel appointed as Chairman

(‘iCar Asia’ or the ‘Company’), owner of ASEAN's number 1 network of automotive portals, announces the retirement of Patrick Grove as Chairman of the Board and the appointment of current independent Non-executive Director, Mr Georg Chmiel as his replacement. Mr Grove has been Chairman of the Company since June 2012 and will continue to serve the Company as a Non-executive Director. Mr Chmiel was appointed an independent Director of the Company on 1 November 2016. Mr Chmiel is currently Chief Financial Officer of iFlix Group. Previously he was Managing Director of the iProperty Group (a former ASX listed company), Asia’s No. 1 Online Property Group. Under his leadership, iProperty Group saw exponential growth in revenue and reached profitability and cash flow positiveness and was sold to REA Group in the largest merger in online advertising in ASEAN. Mr Chmiel was also Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of LJ Hooker with 700 offices across 9 countries providing residential and commercial real estate as well as finance services. Under his leadership, the value of the group doubled. Prior to his role with LJ Hooker, Mr Chmiel held the position of Chief Financial Officer and General Manager International at REA Group Ltd (ASX: REA) for almost six years and was instrumental in building a solid platform for expansion which allowed the group to grow exponentially and see the market capitalisation grow from $100 million to $1.6 billion. Mr Chmiel is currently Chief Financial Officer of iFlix Group. Mr Chmiel was the recipient of the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Award in 2016 and the Top Outstanding Leaders Asia Award in 2015.
