About the job

The role is responsible for overseeing and managing the editorial strategy, for content posted on website as well Youtube and Facebook. Also required in providing technical and creative support to Media Sales team in pitching proposals to clients.

Who are we looking for?


  • Content Creation
  • To produce relevant content in a timely manner
  • To keep abreast of automotive news, trends and policies in Malaysia and across the region to ensure this is reported in a timely manner in all content created by the team
  • To leverage relationship with manufacturers, agencies, automotive authorities and clients to create exceptional content and ideas at all times
  • To ensure that all content produced by other members of the team is checked to ensure content production of the highest standards
  • To ensure that all content is written to the highest standards and that no grammatical, spelling or syntax errors are found in any published work, in print or online
  • Provide creative/technical input to Media Sales in proposing revenue generating projects

Product Management

  • To be the face of our online products; network and build relationships with manufacturers, agencies and the industry. Activities include attending industry events, client’s events, interviews and so on
  • To lead, as a key member of the team tasked with ensuring CMS and product improvements are identified, assessed and communicated to P&T team

Stakeholder Management

  • To guide and mentor the Writers in the content team so that he/she can grow and expand in their experience and roles
  • Ensure open and clear communication with all members of the Media team, inter-department teams in Malaysia and also regional teams across the Group
  • Champion the iCar Asia Values
  • Take personal ownership and responsibility for ensuring professional conduct and delivering an outstanding level of service to our clients, agencies and partners at all times
  • Collaborate with the Management, undertake any other duties or projects that may be
    reasonably required by the Management or that may be reasonably foreseen through
    proactive role engagement and deal with matters arising in a timely and effective manner

Essential knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing or a related field
  • A passion for and/or extensive knowledge of cars and the local automotive industry
  • Solid experience automotive industry (ideally: 4+ years)
  • Strong connections to car manufacturers, PR agencies and other relevant automotive bodies
  • Able to analyse and expound raw data, reports, market trends and similar information in order to produce content
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced, high-performance driven environment
  • Numerate and with excellent use of English both written and verbal (including spelling,
    grammar and adapting communication style for audience)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Very strong competency in using online CMS systems such as Word Press, Photoshop and social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter
  • Strong understanding of SEO-writing for online publications
  • Is creative and able to think-out-of the box
  • Excellent organisation, time management and communication skills
  • Very high standard of accuracy, presentation and attention to detail
  • IT- and internet-literate, especially in web research, MS Office applications and relevant databases

Desirable knowledge, skills & abilities

  • Deep understanding in workings of automotive marketing and public relations
  • Solid experience working for a multinational organisation where English is the primary
    business language and ideally based abroad
  • Experience working and making decisions in a low-structure environment

Other Requirements

  • Current, clean driving license for test drives
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours and weekends as may be required to build client relationships and attend events
  • Possess own transport
